Friday 11/20/09 - Week 8

• Lab hours for Week 9 (Thanksgiving Week) will be as follows:
  Monday: noon-3PM (John & Alex)
  Tuesday: 8-11AM (Justin & Lu)
  Wednesday: noon-3PM (John & Sandra) and 3-6PM (Lu)
  
• Additional open lab hours for ECE 25 on week 10 will be as follows:
  Monday: 3-6PM (Lu)
  Wednesday: 3-6PM (Alex)
  
• If you plan to show up late for the 3-6PM hours on Wednesday Week 9, be sure to email Lu because if no one is in lab during that time he will leave early.

• Datapath/registers will not be covered on Midterm 2, but will be covered on the final exam.

Saturday 11/14/09 - Week 7

• Just to give you guys advanced notice: Lab 5, which will occur during Thanksgiving week (Week 9), the deadline for the completed lab report will be extended to Week 10. The exact day and time is TBD. You are still expected to come to the regularly scheduled lab sessions during Thanksgiving week (MW: noon-3pm, Tu: 8-11am).
• For the pre-lab for Lab 5 here is some code to get you started: You only have to complete lab4.v for prelab. Prelab is still due Thurs 8PM on Week 8 (19th). Do not turn in any tutorial material.

Thursday 11/12/09 - Week 7

• Midterm 2 has been moved to Tue 11/24. It will cover:
  • Moore/Mealy FSM to logic/flip-flops
  • Reverse engineering logic/flip-flops to Moore/Mealy FSM
  • Delay analysis
  • Timing analysis

• No discussion section tomorrow Fri 11/13 for Midterm 2 review. Instead, Midterm 2 review will be in class on Thu 11/19.

• Midterm 2 "Office Hours" will be on Monday 11/23 7-8:30 PM in EBU1-6504.

• Solution to Problem 4 has been corrected for Midterm 1. Revised solutions are here.

Wednesday 11/04/09 - Week 6

• Since this coming Wednesay (11/11/09) is a holiday the lab schedule for Week 7 will be changed up a bit.
• Monday and Tuesday unchanged
• Thursday 11/12/09 sections will be 3:30-7:30 PM (Lu's open hours)
• Friday 11/13/09 sections will be 9-11 AM (Lu's open hours), 11-2 PM (John and Sandra's regular hours), 4-7 PM (Alex's open hours)
• Lab 4 is due FRIDAY 11/13/09 at 7pm.
• I encourage all of you to go to the earliest section you are able to go to so you will have time to complete lab 4

Tuesday 10/13/09 - Week 3

• Midterm 1 will be on Tuesday 10/27.

Saturday 10/03/09 - Week 1

• Please note that Thursday open hours for even weeks have been changed. Sandra is now from 10A-1P and John is now from 5P-8P. Please check "Tutors and Schedule" for up to date information

Friday 10/02/09 - Week 1

• Pre-lab assignment for Lab 2 is due by 8PM on Thursday 10/08. Please hand it in to any of the ECE 35 TA's in the lab room next week. The pre-lab assignment is specified in the beginning of the lab 2 instructions.

Thursday 10/01/09 - Week 1

• The Practice Problems page has been updated with a list of previous exams from Prof. Lin's ECE 25 class. Please work on these problems as "homework" problems.

Wednesday 9/30/09 - Week 1

• Lu Chen has to change his open hours on Thursdays (odd weeks) to the following times: 9:00AM-noon, 3:30PM-5:00PM, 6:00PM-7:30PM. Sorry for the late notice.
• Lab 1 is due by 7:30PM on Thursday!

Tuesday 9/29/09 - Week 1

• For those of you interesting in getting a head start on your Pre-lab assignment for Lab 2: You will need to download the Project Navigator/Xilinx software. Since the installation process is rather long, I suggest getting started on it now. Go to the "Project Navigator" link in the Lab section and click "Installing from the Web" for installation instructions. Once installed, the Xilinx tutorial in the "Using Project Navigator" pdf found under the "Project Navigator" tab in the lab section will teach you how to use the software.
• Be sure to turn in your pre-lab assignments to the ECE 25/35 TAs in any lab hours during even weeks. Do NOT give your pre-lab to the professor.
• If you have any questions, please email any of the TAs.

Monday 9/28/09 - Week 1

Thursday 9/24/09 - Week 0

• Just to be clear: Labs start next week! (Week 1). Bring a lab notebook and your UCSD ID. Please only come to the section you are signed up for.
• The labs in ECE 25 occur every ODD week (No ECE 25 labs on EVEN weeks).

Tuesday 9/22/09 - Week 0

• The website is now up to date. All information should be correct with the exception of minor changes to the syllabus as the course goes on.
• Labs start next week (Week 1).
• There is NO pre-lab assignment that needs to be turned in for Lab 1.
• Be sure to bring a lab notebook to your scheduled lab section (Any kind, no need for the expensive ones...).
• You may bring a combination lock with you to lab to store your equipment in our lockers.
• Be sure to read "Lab Syllabus/Write Up" in the Lab section.
