• 11/18: There is an error on the first page of problem 10. The expression for h(t) and its corresponding graph are incorrect. It should be e^(-t)*u(t). Please refer to the updated notes.
  • 11/17: There was a small error in the table of Fourier transforms provided during the review session. One of the lines for f(t) listed was e^(-a*abs(t))u(t). u(t) should not be there so please correct f(t) to e^(-a*abs(t)). Sorry for that mistake.
  • 11/17: Review session notes (all 40+ pages of them!) are now posted. Please note that the notes may be slightly different from the notes given during today's session. The notes were accidentally not saved, and so the notes had to be rewritten. But all the problems covered during the session should be there.

  • 10/30: Although no new topics have been covered yet, we will still have a discussion section tomorrow (10/31). We will be doing some simple problems to prepare you for the next topic we will be studying: Fourier Transforms.
  • 10/23: Due to the continuing fire emergency situation, Midterm #1 has been POSTPONED to next Tuesday, October 30th.
  • 10/29: Some notes from today's review session are now posted.
  • 10/29: The room for the midterm review session today has been moved to PCYNH 121 (same room as lecture and discussion).
  • 10/27: Two more corrections were made in the solutions to HW#2: one in problem 3b and another with the phase plot in problem 4b. Please download the solutions again for the corrections. If you find any more errors, please e-mail Eldridge and let him know.
  • 10/24: An additional special midterm review session will be held Monday (10/29) starting at 6:30PM. Right now the tentative meeting point will be in the conference room on the 4th floor of Atkinson Hall (Calit2). Please check the website again on Monday for the official room.
  • 10/23: There were some small typos in the HW #2 solutions posted earlier today. The typos occurred where the input Fourier coefficients Xn were listed in parts (c) and (d) in Problem 5. The value for the coefficients n = 1 and n = -1 should be switched. Please refer to the updated solutions.
  • 10/23: Due to the campus closure tomorrow (10/24), Eldridge's Wednesday office hours are cancelled. He will reschedule the two office hours that were cancelled this week to another day and time.
  • 10/23: Due to the continuing fire emergency situation, we have also decided that HW #2 will no longer be due. The solutions have been posted so that you can use it to study for the midterm.

  • 10/18: Additional pages to Lecture #5 have been posted.
  • 10/18: HW #1 was returned today in class. If you were not able to pick up your homework, please see Eldridge either during the review session on Saturday or during his office hours next week.
  • 10/17: Notes for Discussion #3 now posted. Please note that there was an error during discussion for the final phase plot. The last marked frequency should have been 10^3, note 10^2. Please see the notes for the correction.
  • 10/17: Problem 4a on HW #2 has been edited slightly so that the magnitude plot will fit on the provided Bode plot paper. Please refer to the updated handout for the change.
  • 10/16: There was a typo on HW #2. The first three problems should be from Ch.5, not Ch.4. The handout has been updated in case you downloaded it earlier today.
