Complex Numbers: A Review
ECE 101, UCSD

Engineering students in a linear systems course often have difficulty comprehending the concept of a complex number (since most students learn about complex numbers in a math course) which leads to, among other things, difficulties in grasping related abstract concepts. In an effort to address this problem, I offer you this brief review. It is by no means mathematically rigorous, but hopefully it will tie familiar concepts together so that it will be easier to work with and understand complex numbers. First, we will review some very familiar concepts, perhaps in ways you have not thought of before, at least recently.
