No other books, class notes, or calculators. Tables of Properties and Transform Pairs for CTFS, DTFS, CTFT, and DTFT from the textbook will be provided.

- February 1, 2008: Assignment #4 has been posted. P.S. #4A contains review problems on Continuous-Time Fourier Transform (CTFT), with solutions. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAND IN YOUR ANSWERS. Be sure you feel comfortable solving problems of this kind, though. P.S. #4B contains problems on Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT). Please hand in your answers on Tuesday, February 12. Assignment #4 has been posted. Lab #4 is an application of the important Modulation Property of the Fourier Transform, and leads nicely to a discussion of Amplitude Modulation. Please hand in your lab reports on Tuesday, February 12.

Lab #3 is an application of DT convolution to image de-blurring. Please hand in your lab reports on Tuesday, February 5.

- January 18, 2008: Discussion session notes are going to be posted. They can be accessed via the "Discussion Session Notes" link on the main webpage for the course. Let's thank Eldridge for making these available!
- January 17, 2008: Solutions to P.S. #1 and Lab #1 have been posted. The deadline for submitting your solutions to P.S.#2 and Lab#2 has been moved to Tuesday, January 29.
- January 14, 2008: If you are having trouble loading the sound file into MATLAB, be sure that you have copied the file into your MATLAB directory. Also, the following example command will load a file 'message1.ascii' into your workspace: load -ascii 'message1.ascii'; If you are having dynamic range problems in playing the audio signal, try normalizing the samples by their maximum magnitude. You can also try using the soundsc command, if it is available in the version of MATLAB you are using. For example, assuming the audio signal was created with a sampling frequency of 8000 Hz, the following should play it back properly: soundsc(message1,8000);
- January 11, 2008: Some sample problems from Chapter 1, along with a link to their solutions, are posted here. They may be helpful to you.
- January 4, 2008: Welcome to the Winter Quarter 2008 and ECE 101! The first lecture will take place on Tuesday, January 8, 9:30am-10:50am in Cognitive Sciences Building (CSB), Room 001. The first discussion session will be held Friday, January 11, 1:00pm-1:50pm in Warren Lecture Hall (WLH) 2111, led by the course TA, Eldridge Alcantara.
